Coupla Questions: Joshua Jackson
Team Digital, MuchMusic.com

He left the Creek behind and paddled his way into MuchMusic Headquarters! A few minutes before he faced a ton of screaming girls who were waiting for his appearance on MuchOnDemand, we slowed down the pace and asked Joshua Jackson a coupla questions.

Team Digital: What's the best concert you've seen this year?

Joshua Jackson: Ben Harper at the Jazz Fest in New Orleans.

Team Digital: What are 3 bands we should know about?

Joshua Jackson: I think people should listen to more Mos Def, The Roots and people don't know enough about Ben Harper, but he needs to go back to doing slide guitar instead of playing Rock N' Roll. It think he's trying to give the people what they want by standing up and playing Rock, but man he was just great when he would just sit there and wail.

Team Digital: Let's say you got the chance to wail, if you could portray any musician in a film who would you pick and why?

Joshua Jackson: Chet Baker. He was a great musician, it was a great year in music. There's a lot of good stuff in there.

Team Digital: Chet Baker, wasn't he a Jazz Trumpet player from the 50's and 60's? That would be a cool role. Speaking of acting gigs, your upcoming film 'I Love Your Work' (due out later this year) is about a star obsessed who's with a fan...were you obsessed with any actors or musicians growing up?

Joshua Jackson: I obsessed about hockey players more than entertainers...just like every kid I wanted to be Wayne Gretzky.

Team Digital: Ah yes, the Great One. The great Elvis Costello makes an appearance in the film, did you get to meet him?

Joshua Jackson: I did get to meet him. He's a really cool and quiet guy. The director of the film, Adam Goldberg, is a huge Elvis Costello fan and it was sort of on a lark that he asked him to be in the film. So it was funny to watch Adam, who is a totally intelligent and talented guy, totally geek out in front of Elvis Costello

Team Digital: Kinda like I'm geeking out in front of you? Ahem, moving on. What do you gain from the experience of making films that you might not get from making television?

Joshua Jackson: Time. [With television] you don't get the time to really concentrate on it as much as you'd like because things are moving so fast. Like on Dawson's Creek, which has been my only experience with TV, you're going so fast that it's more by instinct than it is by design.

Team Digital: Now that the show's over, what are you going to miss most about the Creek?

Joshua Jackson: The experience of being on set and the camaraderie that you build by working with people for six years. It will be a hard experience to replace. I'm excited to move on and try something else and to be back in Vancouver, but at the same time I'm never going to work on a show for six years and have the same crew guys, that's a hard experience to walk away from.

Team Digital: But since you have walked away, can you tell us something we might not know about any of the cast of the Creek?

Joshua Jackson: I don't know what you do know about everybody but if there is something that you don't know that you shouldn't, I can't tell you.

Team Digital: Damn. We thought we could get some dirt. Your birthday is coming up on June 11, got any plans?

Joshua Jackson: I think what I'm going to do is try and postpone my birthday and not officially turn 25 until I've made proper plans to have a big party.

Team Digital: Just make sure we're invited when you do mmkay?
